February 15th, 2019. HAF and its affiliates –The Latino Pride Center (LPC) and Queens Pride House (QPH) – announce the availability of several full-time positions. These positions respond to the growing needs presented by the LGBT community for culturally and linguistically competent health and human services.

SITE DIRECTOR (1 FTE)

The incumbent develops and implements strategies to systematize program implementation methodologies designed to maximize program and human resources in the offer of quality services. As such, s/he is responsible for program development activities, including but not limited to program design, implementation and evaluation; health and wellness curricula development; staff support and training; and consumer relations.

The ideal candidate shall possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work or Behavioral Psychology, on track to be licensed to practice as clinician in New York State, plus 5 years related administrative work experience; human resources management; program design, implementation, and evaluation; and, consumer relations.

Salary Range: $65K – $77K

SOCIAL WORKER III (2 FTE)

The incumbent is responsible for providing individual and group psycho-educational support counseling to LGBTQ individuals and families. Develops, coordinates and conducts educational workshops / seminars aimed at promoting knowledge, skills, and wellness among PLHIV or at risk of HIV infection and member of the LBGT community to manage their health and overall living conditions.

Master’s in Social Work or related field is required, in addition to 3 years of experience providing supportive counseling services to LGBT individuals, couples, families and groups. Experience in providing clinical services a plus. Candidates must be LMSW’s or meet criteria for LCSW licensing in New York State.

Salary Range: $45K – $60K

YOUTH COUNSELORS (2 FTE)

The incumbent is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Open Colors Program, an LGBTQ youth development program. Open Colors is a peer led initiative that draws from the experiences, interests and leadership of young Latinos to nurture and promote healthier sexual lifestyles among their peers.

Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of relevant experience in HIV/AIDS and youth required. The candidate shall demonstrate ability to implement social-educational services designed for LGBTQ youth; must possess high organizational, role-modeling, communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural competencies required.

NEW – Community Engagement Specialist (1 FTE) – The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of a HAF-LPC site-specific institutional outreach, case finding and marketing strategy targeted to the agency’s defined target populations (members of the LGBTQ community and persons affected by HIV). The principal aims of these efforts are to expand membership in services, promote services, and mobilize community around issues that impact the targeted communities. Additionally, the incumbent participates in recruitment, training and retention efforts of peer educators and other volunteers to help support all community engagement efforts.

 Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in marketing with emphasis on health services; BA may be substituted with AA degree plus 2 years’ experience and/ or High School Diploma and 5 years work experience. The candidate shall possess demonstrated ability to actively participate in the development of outreach/marketing and educational materials and the effective implementation of community engagement strategies. Candidate must possess a high degree of organization, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to role-model, and is an exceptional team player. Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural competencies required. Valid New York Driver’s License and good driver’s record required.

Applicants must also possess knowledge of and sensitivity to ethnically, culturally, and sexually diverse individuals, communities, subcultures, agencies, and organizations affected by the AIDS epidemic, including, but not limited to, communities of color, youth, people of transgender experience, men who have sex with other men, injection drug users, and other subculture groups. As a representative of the Institution, the incumbent must have the ability to synthesize and translate HAF’s vision, mission, and services for the public consumption. Flexible schedule includes evenings, weekends, holidays and occasional out of state travel.

LPC and QPH are seeking fresh talent and highly motivated career-oriented professionals who possess the competencies and commitment to actively participate in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of new programs and the expansion services that support our vision of a “healthier” LGBT communiNEW – Health Educator II – HIV Prevention Services (2 FTE)

The incumbent is responsible for the implementation and delivery of HERR and wellness counseling services, including HIV CTR services, principally to Latino populations at moderate to high risk for HIV/STI infection/transmission. Primary responsibilities include Health Education and Risk Reduction to populations at risk for HIV/STI infection/transmission; HIV Counseling, Testing and Referrals; and Community Engagement & Targeted Outreach.

Bachelor’s Degree in sexual health education or related field, plus 2 years proven track record of success on individual and group counseling in HIV required. BA may be substituted with an Associate’s Degree and 5 years of work experience in the field.

Applicants must also possess knowledge of and sensitivity to ethnically, culturally, and sexually diverse individuals, communities, subcultures, agencies, and organizations affected by the AIDS epidemic, including, but not limited to, communities of color, youth, people of transgender experience, MSMs, injection drug users, and other subculture groups. As a representative of HAF, incumbent must have the ability to synthesize and translate HAF’s vision, mission, and services for public consumption. Team player and bilingual (Spanish/English) competencies a must.

NEW – Social Worker II (1 FTE)
The incumbent is responsible for providing generic social and medical support services to individuals LHIV and / or at risk of HIF infection and their collaterals, including intake and assessment, case planning, coordination of services and referrals to other HAF programs and outside resources ensuring the procurement a full array of social, medical, financial resources necessary to manage living with HIV more effectively.

Principal duties include maintaining an active caseload of 60 individuals living with or at risk for HIV infection; co-facilitating support groups for Latino LHIV and their families; and conducting brief educational intervention on selected topics.

Bachelor’s in Social Work or related field plus 2 years experience providing generic social services, including supportive counseling and guidance, to people living with HIV/AIDS and experience at implementing housing subsidy programs, extensive knowledge of housing laws in NYC and HUD guidelines. Bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural competencies; certification as an HIV Counselor a must within 90 days of hire. Must possess a high degree of organization and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
